Teachers Strike Bristol 2023

Teachers took to the streets of Bristol in protest as part of strike action on Wednesday 01 February 2023.

The NEU say long hours and poor pay are forcing teachers out of the profession. Teachers are also facing a 7 per cent cut in pay during a cost of living crisis.

The NEU says: 'To save education, we must take action to ensure that educators get an inflation-plus pay increase.'
Doctor Who was back in Bristol on 20 January 2023, filming for the forthcoming new series of Doctor Who, which will feature Ncuti Gatwa as the Fifteenth Doctor
We did a weekend tour of Shakespeare's Globe, a recreation of Globe Theatres from Shakespeare's time.

The 50 minute tours are really worth doing if you aren't seeing a show in the theatre.

This is an absolutely beautiful performance space, we were surprised by how much we loved it. The tour was fantastic as well. A really knowledgeable guide took us around the site, keeping a diverse group of tourists engaged and entertained.
We've put together the Bristol locations, featured in the Doctor Who 60th Anniversary filming which took place in June 2022. Alongside is shots of the shots being filmed and where you can find them.

Craig Revel Horwood was one of the big name in the Bristol Hippodrome Pantomime for Christmas 2022. Here's the post bows song at the end of the show.
I found some old video of Bristol taken and used in a project back in 2003.

The footage - from a compressed video and not original tape - was sped up and edited in black and white.

When you slow it down and look at it frame-by-frame, it's blurry but it also tells a story of long-gone shops and corners of Bristol which are no longer there. Including around The Horsefair and Penn Street before Cabot Circus was built.
Butlin's Minehead Fairground is a traditional family friendly fairground with a seaside feel. Here's the rides open in December 2022 for the Christmas Festive Wonderland Break.

Includes Butlin's Minehead dodgems, helter skelter, Waltzers, Carousel, Chair-o-planes and paragliders
