May 2013 is sponsored by the massive queue of ditherers in the Post Office .
They come from far and wide to use the local post office. The post office local to Chopsy Baby, nearly always has a queue out of the door and down the hill. We have decided to walk our post everywhere having found out how ridiculously expensive it is to send parcels now. In actual fact, this is being written from somewhere on the M4. Only another 100 miles to London now.
What You Need To Know…
This May, we would like to make it clear to supermarket users, how to get the best from your shopping experience.
Key Points To Remember:
Remember, Asda in Bedminster is the best place for punch ups, no one will notice.
Off shopping without babies or children? Feeling super-fit today? Then by all means, make sure you park in the parent and child spaces. You’re a winner you are!
Make sure you take up the whole aisle when you bump into a friend. Never let anyone get past you.
Chatting to your baby around the supermarket is fine. But loudly telling your three week old baby that ‘we only eat organic hummus’ makes you look a tit.
Place your coupons and Nectar card right at the bottom of your bag.
Never take less than ten minutes to find your purse.
Insist on splitting the total amount between three different debit cards and a purse full of coppers and moths.
If you can’t get this right, you can also have a row with the self-service machines. Make sure you confuse it with unexpected item in bagging area. For added fun, take a brimming shopping trolley with you. If you want the staff to work harder, fill it with alcohol, knives and magazines.
And finally, don’t forget to abandon your trolley so that it blocks parking spaces. Get ten points if it rolls away and bangs the paintwork on someone else’s car.

Do you have any pets and how committed to them are you?
“We have one dog a rabbit and four guinea pigs. They are family pets and we love them. They really are very pampered.”
Mother of two
“Yes we have the requisite hamsters and guinea pigs. I think it is important for children to experience looking after pets and the responsibility it entails.”
Mother of three
“Not yet. We are thinking about getting guinea pigs and looking at rescue options rather than pet stores.”

This Month it’s Michael Gove/Elizabeth Truss
Chopsy Baby Editor Jen Smith Writes: There are no rights or wrongs when it comes to choosing childcare for under fives. Every family is different and every childcare setting is different. Some children will fit well into busy nurseries. Others will enjoy the quieter setting of a dedicated childminder.
The only wrongs come from those in Government, who are determined to strip childhood away from youngsters with their targets and vilification of nurseries. Children who are barely out of nappies, should have the freedom to learn and explore through play and discovery. Opening schools for longer hours and ditching holidays will force children and young people into the rat race far too soon. There is plenty of time to work yourself into the ground hitting targets for faceless Government departments. Education is not the place for this.

Finally, Thought For The Month…
If you are selling door to door, maybe collecting for charity or wanting to convert people to a particular religion, here are some basic ways of dealing with doorbells.
1. Don’t ring and walk off within ten seconds. I guarantee you by the time someone gets to the doorbell, your back will receive a very passive aggressive comment.
2. If you can see people in the house who are not responding to your call, clue – they are not coming to the door. Stop ringing.
3. If we wanted windows, we would notice the gaping hole in the glass and call you. Go away.
4. If it comes through the letterbox and we didn’t ask for it, that makes it fair game for the recycle box.
5. If you hold a clipboard and want direct debit details for a charity, don’t patronise us. Cut to the chase. We know you don’t care about how we are today.
