Mothers allow sons back to family home more than daughters
That special bond between a mother and son continues into adulthood, with mums more likely to allow sons to move back home than daughters.
According to research by Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment to coincide with their DVD release of Cyrus, mothers favour their sons as they believe boys are more likely to pay rent and help out around the home.
Mothers found their sons -not daughters- would take parental advice on career choices and even love life.
But whether they know it or not, 58 per cent of mums are being wrapped around their son’s little fingers.
Boys are more likely to be spoilt with cash gifts, home cooked meals, a personal taxi and laundry service.
Debt and relationship issues were the main reasons for adult children to move back home.
Psychiatrist, Avie Luthra says: “It’s not surprising how much boys seem to get away with compared to girls when it comes to their parents; boys traditionally are often treated very differently to their female siblings. When watching Cyrus you would think that his family situation was far from normal, but clearly more and more adult children are living with their parents. Kids who boomerang back and forth to their parents every time something goes wrong can have a real effect on a couples’ relationship, be that a new relationship or a long term one. ”
Cyrus is out on DVD and Blu-ray today.
