Bristol City Council awarded £2.2m to fund cycling and pedestrian options in the city

Bristol City Council has been awarded £2.2m to fund green transport in the city.

With this amount of money, it would be absolutely possible to encourage cyclists to keep their wheels on the road rather than belt through pedestrians on pavements.

The cash comes from £20.6m which is being awarded across the country to support healthier travel options for people to access jobs and education.

Transport Minister Robert Goodwill said: “Green transport cuts congestion and improves air quality. It also offers the cheapest and healthiest way for people to access jobs and education.

“Bristol’s green travel scheme will make a real difference for residents and help provide better air quality for everyone. Our £21m funding across England shows we are committed to improving lives through investment in sustainable transport.”

Bristol City Council had to prove their could cut emissions and increase cycling and walking in the city.
