Autism M Shed Accessibility:
M Shed Bristol has been working with local autism support group Bristol Autism Support (BAS), to create autism accessibility when visiting the Bristol museum.
BAS supports families affected by difficulties autism may present by signposting to services, information and providing advice and support for Bristol families.
One of its aims is to share their specialist knowledge with professionals and services in the area, to improve autism care and provision in the area.
M Shed has worked with BAS to create a Little Bag of Calm, available to borrow from reception. The specially created bags contain ear defenders, visual prompts and fiddle toys.
Staff at the venue have been trained in autism awareness and a free visual guide to M Shed is available on the museum’s website to help plan visits in advance.
