Parents Failing To Get Five-A-Day Into Their Children

Trying to get children to eat their five-a-day is proving an impossible task for UK parents, with 41 per cent giving up with greens altogether.

Dinner time battle grounds have stressed out 29 per cent, who admitting to losing their patience with their healthy food refusing children. But, 28 per cent of children just won’t eat vegetables because they can’t stand the taste.

Tricking children into eating vegetables was a tactic used by six in ten, who also said they even resorted to bribery on occasions.

But for all their trials and tribulations, 95 per cent of parents have tried, even if they failed. Some five per cent said outright that they just don’t think it’s important for their children to get five-a-day.

Brussel sprouts were the most disliked vegetable, followed by cabbage and mushrooms.

A total of 2000 parents with children under ten years took part in the study by Beko.
