Mums-to-be are feeling unsupported during pregnancy due to lack of access to midwives, with 66 per cent saying they wished they had the opportunity for more contact time.
The research from Private Midwives, finds that two in three mums felt under supported during pregnancy as a direct result of the national midwife shortage across the UK.
The stress of dealing with pregnancy related concerns was found to have affected the sleep of 34 per cent of women, who lay awake worrying. And, 51 per cent of women turned to the internet for advice instead of talking things through with their midwife.
A total of 300 mums who had given birth in the UK in the past five years took part in the survey.
