Reign in Your Children’s Information on Social Media Poll Results Suggest
Many parents are guilty of proudly posting about their children in great detail on social media, but 71 per cent think mums and dads should be reigning in the information.
Research from the Baby to Toddler Show by Nominet, asked 1,292 people whether parents should be documenting their children’s lives on social media.
Whilst 82 per cent of parents said they posted to connect with friends and family they don’t see very often, 45 per cent of people became irritated with them for showing off and 37 per cent said they hadn’t thought about how their children would feel about the oversharing when they are older.
A 49 per cent of parents liked the way social media was able to conveniently record their children’s milestones and memories with just 7 per cent thinking this would embarrass their child in the future.
And these days, parents are far more privacy savvy with 70 per cent knowing exactly what settings they had to restrict what people had access to.
