Things to do with Children in Central Bristol – Royal Fort Garden St Michael’s Hill

Ideal Activity for Bristol Families in the Centre

The Royal Fort Gardens are owned by the University of Bristol and open to the public. It features the Royal Fort House set in a landscaped garden which includes a pond, trees and garden walk.

Two striking features are the mirror maze Follow Me by artist Jeppe Hein and wooden fort Hollow by Katie Paterson.

The gardens can be accessed from near the Bristol Museum and Art Gallery on Park Street, or half way up St Michael’s Hill – the steep hill near the BRI.

The Royal Fort Garden is a quiet, tranquil setting for peaceful walks, not suitable for burning off energy and running riot walks.
