Free first aid course for Bristol parents

Bristol will get a visit from the Tesco BabySafe seminar to teach parents vital first aid skills.

According to research by the Tesco Baby & Toddler Club, eight out of ten parents are unable to cope if their child starts choking or stops breathing.

Despite worries about being able to deal with potentially serious accidents, half of parents have never competed a first aid course, and those that did so had taken one more than two years ago.

Tesco Baby & Toddler Club is running its third BabySafe campaign, run by the Royal life Saving Society UK, to help teach parents lifesaving skills to keep their baby safe.

In response to these shocking figures, Tesco Baby & Toddler Club is launching its successful BabySafe campaign for the third year in a row.  This series of free, unique seminars run by experts from the Royal Life Saving Society UK helps teach parents invaluable lifesaving skills to keep their baby safe.

Parents, grandparents and carers are are all invited to the free seminars which will also look at how to spot signs of meningitis, dealing with burns and scalds as well as car seat safety.

Chief Executive of RLSS UK, Di Standley said: “The survey demonstrates a real need to provide parents with the tools to deal with an emergency first aid situation.  Our first instinct is to panic and just knowing what to do can buy vital seconds, which could ultimately save a life.”
