Tenth anniversary and 70,000 saved by NHS smoking campaign
NHS Stop Smoking Services celebrate their ten-year anniversary this month with the news that around 70,000 lives have been saved since the service started.
The number of people who smoke in the UK has dropped from 28 per cent to below 21 per cent, helped by the UK’s smoke free policy and NHS services.
There are more than 150 local NHS Stop Smoking Services throughout England providing free support at GP practices, local community sports and leisure centres, workplaces, dental practices, high street pharmacists, third sector organisations and children’s centres.
Research shows that smokers are up to four times more likely to stop smoking successfully with NHS Support. For more information on going smokefree call 0800 066 5826.
