A charity is calling for children to take a kinder approach to Christmas by buying gifts to benefit others.<\/p>\n
Oxfam, is looking to children to adopt a ‘philanthropic’ approach to help them develop an empathy for those less fortunate.<\/p>\n
The charity is launching its first ever range of gifts for children \u2013 Oxfam Unwrapped Kids \u2013 designed to improve the lives of youngsters living in poverty and to introduce children to the role they can play in helping others.<\/p>\n
Oxfam found from research that parents actually want their children to have a less materialistic Christmas and believed their children would like to receive a gift that would help children in other parts of the world.<\/p>\n
The Oxfam Unwrapped range now includes gifts such as Educate a child \u00a330, Desk and chair set \u00a321 or Playtime \u00a37.<\/p>\n
Each child receiving an gift from the Unwrapped range will receive an activity book or a gift card that tells them more about the present they have received.\u00a0

\nSpokesperson for Oxfam Unwrapped, Rick Lay said: \u201cWe saw that parents were starting to buy gifts from our Oxfam Unwrapped charity range for their children as well so went about creating a range designed just for them.\u00a0 There are children living in poverty all over the world who benefit hugely from these gifts, something as simple as playtime can help teach them about health through games and songs, while desk and chair sets give them access to an education which can change their lives forever.

\n\u201cOpening presents and stockings is a big part of Christmas day for kids so toys definitely have their place, but hopefully charity gifts can be part of the mix.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
