People devastated by cancer are not happy with the level of support and information available to them.<\/p>\n
Research conducted on behalf of Macmillan Cancer Support<\/strong> released today finds that of the 64 per cent of people living with cancer in the South of England, only one third felt they had received the necessary information about the long-term impact cancer treatment will have on their health.<\/p>\n
Sufferers also felt they needed more information about how to deal with the emotional impact cancer has on their life, with just 16 per cent feeling they were well enough informed.<\/p>\n
To help people get the vital support and information they need, Macmillan Cancer Support is working with Boots UK<\/strong>, by hosting a week-long event of drop in Cancer Information Sessions<\/strong> at local branches of Boots this Cancertalk Week<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
Specialists from Macmillan will be able to personally advise people affected by cancer between 25 \u2013 22 February 2011.<\/p>\n
Chief Executive at Macmillan Cancer Support, Ciar\u00e1n Devane says: \u201cOne in three of us will be diagnosed by cancer at some stage of our lives, and with two million people now living with a cancer diagnosis in the UK, most of us are affected in some way by the disease.\u00a0 But talking honestly about cancer is hard. People can be scared of what it involves and are too often left without good information to help them through their cancer.\u201d<\/p>\n
