Parents aren’t letting their young children play outside the home due to dangers, but quite happily let them do so on holiday.<\/p>\n
A 23 per cent of parents say then never let their young children play outdoors\u00a0alone because they worry about strangers and busy roads.<\/p>\n
Holiday company Thomson Al Fresco, polled 3,000 parents with children aged between four and ten years of age living across the UK.<\/p>\n
A whopping 85 per cent of parents admit to playing outside unsupervised when they were young children, with seven out of ten doing so on a daily basis.<\/p>\n
But whilst stranger danger and busy roads worry parents at home, they worry less about the sames problems whilst on holiday.<\/p>\n
At holiday destinations, 51 per cent of parents were happy to let their young children play out alone.<\/p>\n
A 30 per cent said it ‘feels safer’ on holiday, attributing this to longer daylight hours and more outside space.<\/p>\n
Thomson Al Fresco managing director, Nick Riggs said: \u201cBusier streets and stranger danger are clearly the two big concerns all the parents we spoke to share. And yet, when the British family goes on holiday those fears and concerns seem to dim significantly.
