{"id":13775,"date":"2011-06-29T10:47:32","date_gmt":"2011-06-29T09:47:32","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/chopsybaby.com\/magazine\/?p=13775"},"modified":"2011-06-29T10:47:37","modified_gmt":"2011-06-29T09:47:37","slug":"ferral-kids-moved-to-the-avon-gorge","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/chopsybaby.com\/magazine\/ferral-kids-moved-to-the-avon-gorge\/","title":{"rendered":"Feral kids moved to the Avon Gorge"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Six feral goats have been introduced to the Avon Gorge to help save rare wildflowers.<\/p>\n<p>A fenced area of the Avon Gorge \u2013 the Gully \u2013 has seen the introduction of the goats to help control the growth of scrubby vegetation.<\/p>\n<p>The project is being run by Bristol City Council and Natural England as part of the Avon Gorge and Downs Wildlife Project.<\/p>\n<p>The area used to home grazing sheep until the start of the 1900s, after which the sheep were moved and the grassland and rare plants disappeared.<\/p>\n<p>Spokesperson for Natural England, Chris Westcott says: \u201cThe Avon Gorge is internationally recognised for its wildflower rich grassland and rare plants that grow on the rocky outcrops and grassy slopes.
