Internet traders who have been avoiding the tax man are being warned they have just one month to get their tax affairs in order.<\/p>\n
HMRC are offering the e-Markets Disclosure Facility, for people selling on auction sites and have not paid all the tax they owe.<\/p>\n
The time limited amnesty for those coming forward before 14 June will see them paying lower penalties than those who HMRC catch up with.<\/p>\n
The campaign is not aimed at families selling a few items, but those who buy and sell as a trade or business.<\/p>\n
Marian Wilson, head of HMRC Campaigns, said:\u201dI urge online sellers who think they owe tax on their income to get in touch and get their tax affairs in order, simply and on the best possible terms.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe information and intelligence we gather is from a wide range of sources and it allows us to target those who should come forward as part of the e-Markets Disclosure Facility.<\/p>\n
\u201dIf you owe tax and don’t get in contact, do not assume that HMRC will not catch up with you.\u201d<\/p>\n
