The eardrum shares the same blood vessels with the hypothalamus. This is the part of the brain that controls the core body temperature. It does not fully develop in children until past the age of five years. This is why a sudden surge in temperature can cause a febrile convulsion. Having an accurate thermometer to measure temperature in this way is a useful and perhaps even essential first aid tool in the house.<\/p>\n The pre-warmed tip of this device means that the thermometer is brought to a temperature close to the human body. The cooling effect on the ear canal that a cold thermometer has is less likely with this model.<\/p>\n One of the other features of the product is its ‘Guidance System’. It is important to make sure the thermometer is situated correctly in the ear and when the probe has recorded an accurate temperature, a beep will be heard.<\/p>\n The ThermoScan comes with a pack of disposable lens filters and more can be purchased separately. This protects the lens and stops it passing germs between family members.<\/p>\n This Thermometer is really easy to use. Granted it is on the more expensive end of the thermometer scale, but you just don’t want to settle for any less. And certainly don’t think a trip to the pound shop is going to offer anything any good.<\/p>\n
