As well as some staggeringly brilliant lighting and projection, it is the performance of Stewart Clarke as Sam Wheat at the very\u00a0heart of the show. Being a younger Sam than Patrick Swayze, Clarke manages to bring much more vulnerability to his performance.<\/p>\n<p>Rebecca Trehearn as Molly Jenson, is a strong independent woman, tougher than Demi moore&#8217;s portrayl, and much more stiff upper lip.<\/p>\n<p>It takes around two minutes to adjust to the fact that this is not Moore or Swayze on stage. But straight away, we know the show is going to meet our expectations of the movie. After this, though we know how the story goes, the cast and creatives still manage to\u00a0keep the audience gripped and on the edge of their seats to the bitter sweet end.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_21488\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-21488\" style=\"width: 500px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-21488\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/chopsybaby.com\/magazine\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/David-Roberts-Cast-of-Ghost-The-Musical-2-Photo-Credit-Sean-Ebsworth-Barnes-ed.jpg\" width=\"500\" height=\"283\" srcset=\"https:\/\/chopsybaby.com\/magazine\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/David-Roberts-Cast-of-Ghost-The-Musical-2-Photo-Credit-Sean-Ebsworth-Barnes-ed.jpg 500w, https:\/\/chopsybaby.com\/magazine\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/David-Roberts-Cast-of-Ghost-The-Musical-2-Photo-Credit-Sean-Ebsworth-Barnes-ed-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/chopsybaby.com\/magazine\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/David-Roberts-Cast-of-Ghost-The-Musical-2-Photo-Credit-Sean-Ebsworth-Barnes-ed-230x130.jpg 230w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-21488\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">David Roberts and Cast of Ghost The Musical: Photo Credit Sean Ebsworth Barnes<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Strangely, despite the betrayl of Carl \u2013 played by David Roberts &#8211;\u00a0 at the end of Act One we feel some pity for the friend who got himself too deep into trouble. In fact, Roberts manages to show an element we don&#8217;t see in the original film. That all he wants is for things to go back the way they were.<\/p>\n<p>The story is faithful to the film, owing to its original Oscar-winning writer creating the book and lyrics for the stage show.<\/p>\n<p>Bruce Joel Rubin&#8217;s story, though featuring the afterlife, is a tale so human we can all relate to it\u00a0in some part. There is love, loss, revenge, bereavement, betrayal and healing.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/chopsybaby.com\/magazine\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/ghost.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-21484\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/chopsybaby.com\/magazine\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/ghost.jpg\" width=\"400\" height=\"266\" srcset=\"https:\/\/chopsybaby.com\/magazine\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/ghost.jpg 400w, https:\/\/chopsybaby.com\/magazine\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/ghost-300x199.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The intensity of show is broken up by the brilliance of Wendy Mae Brown as Oda Mae Brown. Her character is based on Whoopi Goldberg&#8217;s performance. Between Wendy and her &#8216;sisters&#8217; Clara and Louise\u00a0 \u2013 Karlene Wray and Keisha Atwell, we get the hysterical comedy that is a welcome relief from the show&#8217;s darker elements.<\/p>\n<p>At the end of the\u00a0performance there can be few dry eyes in the house. The score is not outstanding and you won&#8217;t be singing any of the songs for the next week.
