But some children or adults with sensitive skin can find they are allergic to the sheep wax also contained in most woollen products. It is also possible for clothing made with lanolin to attract mites and allergins, exacerbating eczema and other skin conditions. Babies and young children&#8217;s skin is naturally more sensitive than adults, making this lanolin\u00a0yarn ideal.<\/p>\n<p>From a practical point of view, alpacas themselves need their fleece to protect and insulate them in temperatures ranging from -22C in the winter to +27C in the summer. With something this lovely it&#8217;s worth the minor hassle of hand washing even though it&#8217;s possible to machine wash. It came back a little muddy with the usual mess around the cuffs and sleeves and some packed lunch down the front.
