Parents and those responsible for<\/span> transporting children in car seats, can download a handy ten point guide, to make sure children’s car seats are correctly fitted.<\/p>\n

The guide by Which? features ten quick checks and dangers to watch out for.<\/p>\n

The top ten checks are:<\/p>\n

  1. Is the seatbelt secure and untwisted?<\/li>\n
  2. If the seat is rearward facing, is the handlebar in the position shown in the instructions?<\/li>\n
  3. Is the car seat sitting squarely on the seat of the car and is the headrest in the correct position as shown in your instructions?<\/li>\n
  4. Is the seatbelt following the correct red or blue route guides?<\/li>\n
  5. Is the seatbelt buckle in the right place?<\/li>\n
  6. For Isofix seats, do the visual indicators show it is fitted correctly?<\/li>\n
  7. Is your Isofix drop down foot securely on the floor, and\/is the top tether firmly attached?<\/li>\n
  8. Have you removed any thick clothes?<\/li>\n
  9. For younger children, are the shoulder pads level with your child\u2019s shoulders and is the harness not too tight or loose?<\/li>\n
  10. For older children, is the seatbelt across their shoulder and hips?<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
