Teaching young children to dial 999 in an emergency will help save lives and it’s an initiative\u00a0being backed by the full force of Mumsnet.<\/p>\n
Nine million calls to 999 are made\u00a0by people in the UK every year, but in a survey of nearly 800 Mumsnet members, 37 per cent had not taught their children how to dial 999.<\/p>\n
A 53 per cent said it had\u00a0not occurred to them to even teach the\u00a0skill.<\/p>\n
The parents who had taught their children how to\u00a0contact emergency services felt\u00a0confident their\u00a0children\u00a0would know when to use it.<\/p>\n
