Celebrity parents and endorsements are having a woeful effect on\u00a0some obsessed UK mums.<\/p>\n
Apparently, there are parents contributing towards an overall spending of\u00a0\u00a3171 million a year on celebrity endorsed products.<\/p>\n
Nine in ten mums say that celebrity mums are having a growing influence on everyday parents, at a cost of leaving 7 per cent feeling inadequate\/<\/p>\n
It’s baby clothing ranges, post-pregnancy workout DVDs, prams used by celebrity parents\u00a0and parenting books that are the most popularly purchased items.<\/p>\n
In total, a 68 per cent of mums said they aspired to celebrity family lifestyles, with media coverage making it impossible to ignore.<\/p>\n
The most influential celebrity parents in order were The Beckhams, William and Kate and\u00a0Brad and Angelina.<\/p>\n
Spokesperson for\u00a0Netmums, Rachel Burrows\u00a0says that it’s important to remind mums that celebrity parents have a ‘carefully crafted image’.<\/p>\n
She says: \u201cThe celeb-baby economy may be worth almost \u00a3200m – but it\u2019s putting unprecedented pressure on normal mums. With nine in ten mums agreeing star parents influence them, many ordinary mothers on average budgets now feel that they have to keep up. \u201cWhile some celebrity mums are undoubtedly great role models and bring up their famous families brilliantly despite the media spotlight, others are making parenting much harder for the average parent. We\u2019ve already seen mums feel stressed and depressed as they don\u2019t have a celeb\u2019s post-baby body, now this feeling of failure is creeping into other parenting areas like the clothes our kids wear or the parenting styles we choose.”<\/p>\n
