{"id":24247,"date":"2015-10-14T13:57:30","date_gmt":"2015-10-14T12:57:30","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/chopsybaby.com\/magazine\/?p=24247"},"modified":"2018-07-02T13:54:26","modified_gmt":"2018-07-02T12:54:26","slug":"24247","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/chopsybaby.com\/magazine\/24247\/","title":{"rendered":"Channel Mum puts Halloween Costumes to Flammability Tests"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<div>Fancy dress costumes are immensely popular play items with young children all year around.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>But, there are still fire safety concerns with children&#8217;s dress up outfits in the run-up to Halloween.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\u00a0In 2014, Claudia Winkleman&#8217;s daughter was involved in a horrific incident when her shop purchased Halloween outfit caught fire after brushing against a tea light.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\u00a0The concern about the fire safety aspect of children&#8217;s dress up costumes has raged ever since.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\u00a0The founder of a new parenting video community, Siobhan Freegard, is now calling for more stringent safety regulations and clearer labelling on such items.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\u00a0Currently, children&#8217;s costumes are only classed as toys rather than clothes. This means they are tested to lower flammability standards.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Channel Mum has been testing the flammability of children&#8217;s costumes and has published the worrying results in a video.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\u00a0Siobhan Freegard said: \u201cSome stores promised they\u2019ve tightened up Halloween outfit safety, but our video shows the flames ripping through children\u2019s costumes in seconds.
