Bristol City Council will be receiving extra funding from the Government, to tackle rogue landlords in the city.<\/p>\n
Bristol will be one of 48 councils in the country who are to receive\u00a0a share in\u00a0\u00a35M.<\/p>\n
The city has been allocated \u00a3135,000 to help them stop tenants being housed privately in poor quality and dangerous housing.<\/p>\n
The funding will help increase property inspections and stop beds in sheds.<\/p>\n
Housing Minister Brandon Lewis said:\u00a0“Many private rental tenants are happy with their home and the service they receive, but there are still rogue landlords that exploit vulnerable people and force their tenants to live in overcrowded and squalid accommodation.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are determined to tackle these rogues which is why we are providing 48 councils with extra funding, so they can get rid of the cowboy operators in their area and bring an end to tenants living in miserable homes in the name of profit.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe also want to raise the quality and choice of rental accommodation across the sector. The funding will ensure tenants know what level of service they can expect and have confidence to get help and take action if things go wrong.\u201d<\/p>\n
