Cat World Sensory Project<\/strong><\/p>\n

My six year old commissioned me to create Cat World. The brief included an indoor garden for her tiny cats to play in and as we don’t have a garden she wanted it in her bedroom. She specified magical buildings and a pathway.<\/p>\n

Indoor grass areas are fantastic for both sensory and small world play. Cat World encompasses both. And, the really great thing about growing grassy areas indoors is that there is no risk of dog poo.<\/p>\n

You don’t have to have any gardening skills for this project. A trip to Wilko provided everything necessary:<\/p>\n

Soil
\nPlastic planter
\nGrass seeds
\nSolar powered garden light
\nFishpond ornament
\nCat shaped Erasures<\/p>\n

It took one week for a significant length of grass to grow in a watered and sunny window. I left two to make sure it was a good quality growth for play.<\/p>\n

Once ready, it was a case of mowing the lawn with scissors and introducing the necessary elements of Cat World.<\/p>\n

Growing planters of grass is also good fun for Happy Land, Playmobil, Barbies and any other small world play opportunities you can think of. Hide mirrored balls or shapes in the grass and decorate with seasonal items for sensory exploration.<\/p>\n

Result:<\/strong> Success<\/p>\n
