{"id":2877,"date":"2009-06-13T17:11:23","date_gmt":"2009-06-13T17:11:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/chopsybaby.com\/mag\/?p=2877"},"modified":"2018-07-02T13:57:15","modified_gmt":"2018-07-02T12:57:15","slug":"indesit-help-youth-tread-the-boards","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/chopsybaby.com\/magazine\/indesit-help-youth-tread-the-boards\/","title":{"rendered":"Indesit help youth tread the boards"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Youngsters in Peterborough will be putting on a special performance of West Side Story at the city&#8217;s Key Theatre next month.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2878\" title=\"key-theatre-7\" src=\"http:\/\/chopsybaby.com\/magazine\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/06\/key-theatre-7.gif\" alt=\"key-theatre-7\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The performance is supported by white goods company Indesit, who are working in partnership with Peterborough City Council, as part of their initiative to support the local community.<\/p>\n<p>The young actors chose West Side Story because of the themes it tackles, including gang culture and knife crime.<\/p>\n<p>Keiron Frost, age 15, who plays Tony in the performance said: \u201cOne of the great things about working in this production is meeting people and making new friends. Also, acting lets a person come out of their shell, and this has been evident throughout rehearsals where we have all become really close. I love acting and have really appreciated the teaching we\u2019ve had from the professional teachers who have come on board.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Imogen Kemp-Hunt, age 13, and who plays Maria added: \u201cThe show has really given all of us the chance to show our talents and it\u2019s been great fun to be a part of it. It\u2019s all been about different people coming together, working hard, and producing a brilliant show at the end.
