But if you fail to stick to your original pre-baby plan you are not alone. According to a poll by VoucherCodesPro.co.uk, 97 per cent of parents end up doing something with their baby that they had resolutely decided not to do.<\/p>\n
Introducing a dummy, bottle feeding and allowing technology at an early age are the three most common things that new parents quickly backtrack on.<\/p>\n

A total of 93 per cent of more than 2,000 people taking part in the poll said that they used books, magazines and websites to help them prepare for their new baby. Whilst 40 per cent felt the information they read was helpful, 25 per cent found they didn’t read anything that helped them prepare at all.<\/p>\n
According to these parents the research they did all made them feel stressed enough to put pressure on themselves not to fall into what they considered to be parenting pitfalls.<\/p>\n
The most common things parents said they would never do were:<\/p>\n

2. Bottle feeding my child instead of breastfeeding \u2013 59\u00a0per cent<\/p>\n
3. Introducing my child to technology at an early age \u2013 57\u00a0per cent<\/p>\n
4. Feeding my child pre-made baby food instead of making it all fresh\u2013 41\u00a0per cent<\/p>\n
5. Co-sleeping \u2013 38\u00a0per cent<\/p>\n
6. Swearing in front of my child \u2013 26\u00a0per cent<\/p>\n
7. Bribing my child \u2013 23\u00a0per cent<\/p>\n
8. Shouting at my child \u2013 17\u00a0per cent<\/p>\n
9. Becoming a nag \u2013 11\u00a0per cent<\/p>\n
10. Arguing with my partner in front of my child \u2013 9\u00a0per cent<\/p>\n
A 67 per cent of new mums who had waded through the dos and don’t advised others not to be guilt tripped by the professionals with their advice and 14 per cent advised to go with the flow and have fun with the new baby.<\/p>\n
