Bristol parents are being urged to get their child car seats checked and to make sure kids belt up in the back.<\/p>\n
Statistics from the AA show that August is the worst month for death and serious injury to children in vehicles during the long summer break. Statistics may worsen with AA research showing that a massive 50 per cent more people are planning to holiday in the UK this year.<\/p>\n
A nationwide roadshow taking in Bristol, and coinciding with Child Safety Week kicks off in Watford today. It will be offering parents expert advice and hands on guidance to choosing and fitting children’s car seats before they start on their long holiday trips.<\/p>\n
The roadshow campaign by Britax, the AA and Mothercare is being backed by footballing legend Sir Alex Ferguson CBE whose own grandson was badly injured in a car collision.<\/p>\n
Mark Bennett from Britax said “With so many families hitting the UK roads for their summer holidays this year, the correct fitting of children’s car seats is of paramount importance. We find it extremely alarming how many people are unaware that their car seats are fitted incorrectly, and are delighted to be working with Mothercare and the AA to help parents, and educate them on the solutions available before they embark on their road trips this summer.”<\/p>\n
The roadshow will take place outside eleven Mothercare stores in the UK. Britax and the AA will be on hand to offer demonstrations.<\/p>\n
