Brean Down is Brean’s natural pier, majestically stretching out 1.5 miles from land and leaving the three man made piers in Weston Super Mare far behind.<\/p>\n

It’s a fantastic walk both in the summer and winter, with the remains of a military base at the end. Brean Down is fully accessible, with wheelchair and pram paths from the car park.<\/p>\n

It is now owned by the National Trust. Our website editorial policy is not to link to or promote the National Trust, because we believe their animal and wildlife management, approach to listed buildings, staff bullying and landlord tenancy issues are unethical. Just days after these photographs were taken, two of the mountain goats plunged to their deaths, despite public concern for the animals’ safety and their welfare for some months before hand.<\/p>\n

However, you can visit Brean Down without having to deal with any National Trust nonsense.<\/p>\n

Do take sturdy footwear and though it is safe enough to walk along, stick to the paths and do not allow toddlers to run off.<\/p>\n

Always approach Brean Down from safe public access in Brean itself. The water at the end of Brean Down where Burnham, Brean and Weston converge is also very dangerous. Finally, stay out of the mud.<\/p>\n
