In a bid to make people aware about the support available for families and people facing this crisis, Bristol City council is highlighting its range of services as well as the organisations it works with to help tackle homelessness in the city.<\/p>\n<p>Last year, the council and the partners it works with prevented 4,486 households from becoming homeless.<\/p>\n<p>Rough or street sleeping is not the only form that homelessness takes, though it is the most visual one.<\/p>\n<p>Rent increases, relationship breakdowns, domestic abuse or job losses and welfare reform are situations that can affect everyday families.<\/p>\n<p>The Council are keen to prevent homelessness through early intervention and are raising awareness about its range of services available to stop situations becoming more desperate.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHomelessness is not acceptable. It is a complex problem without one clear solution, but as well as tackling homelessness, it\u2019s important we focus on preventing it happening in the first place&#8221;,\u00a0Mayor of Bristol, Marvin Rees says.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere are a lot of support and advice services available, and we are working closely with the community and voluntary sector to try and stop people falling through the gaps.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe support will be personal and positive and focus on relationships, benefit issues, helping people in to work and clear pathways to settled accommodation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHomelessness can affect anyone.
