Bristol and Weston-Super-Mare will benefit from government funding to help tackle surface water flooding.<\/p>\n
Out of \u00a3825,000 awarded to local authorities in the South West, Bristol City Council will receive \u00a3250,000.<\/p>\n
North Somerset Council for Weston-Super-Mare will receive \u00a3100,000.<\/p>\n
The funding is to be awarded to local authorities across England where evidence shows that the risk and impact of surface water flooding could be highest.<\/p>\n
Environment Secretary, Hilary Benn said: “Local authorities have a crucial role to play in tackling flooding and it’s vital that they have the information, resources and skills they need.\u00a0 That’s why we’ve provided this money and we want to make sure it gets to where it’s most needed and where it can make the biggest difference – especially as we know that climate change will cause increased severe rainfall in future and bring with it an increased risk of surface water flooding.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
