The innocuous statue of Ursa itself was much-loved by many Bristolians, quickly becoming adopted as a symbol of the city. But to others, it symbolised the perceived difficulties of St James Barton Roundabout, known locally as the Bearpit.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_38567\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-38567\" style=\"width: 500px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/chopsybaby.com\/magazine\/wp-content\/uploads\/Ursa-bear-stokes-croft.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-38567\" src=\"http:\/\/chopsybaby.com\/magazine\/wp-content\/uploads\/Ursa-bear-stokes-croft.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"666\" srcset=\"https:\/\/chopsybaby.com\/magazine\/wp-content\/uploads\/Ursa-bear-stokes-croft.jpg 500w, https:\/\/chopsybaby.com\/magazine\/wp-content\/uploads\/Ursa-bear-stokes-croft-225x300.jpg 225w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-38567\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Just a few hours after this picture was taken, Ursa was gone<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The 12ft bear statue was the last remaining occupant of the Bearpit after the roundabout was cleared by Bristol City Council and guarded by security during June this year.
