Sunflower Lanyard Scheme for Hidden Disabilities:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Tesco has joined the Sunflower Lanyard scheme, a growing movement at retailers and services which recognise those wearing one will have a hidden disability.<\/p>\n

Wearers of the lanyard are discreetly indicating they may need some extra help or support with their shopping.<\/p>\n

In Tesco stores, help offered includes speaking face-to-face to allow lip reading, packing bags and taking them to the customers\u2019 cars or reading labels for partially-sighted customers.<\/p>\n

The supermarket will display a permanent sign to inform shoppers that the sunflower lanyard is recognised in store.<\/p>\n

Tesco has also signed up to the Valuable 500 – a group of companies committed to improving disability inclusion – and will be increasing the number of Changing Places toilets in its stores from 49 to 75 during 2020.<\/p>\n

Tesco Chief Customer Officer, Alessandra Bellini said: \u201cWe work hard to ensure that everyone feels welcome at Tesco and want our stores to be as accessible as possible. It\u2019s clear how important Changing Places and sunflower lanyards are to our customers who need them and\u00a0we\u2019ll continue to explore ways we can do more for customers with disabilities.\u201d<\/p>\n

Customers will be able to pick up a free sunflower lanyard at the customer service desk of Tesco stores.<\/p>\n
