Central Bristol Road Changes for new bike lanes will create road changes in Bristol city centre<\/strong><\/p>\n

Central Bristol Road Changes taking place next month will see new protected bike lanes installed along Park Row, Upper Maudlin Street and Marlborough Street – think bus station, BRI and up to Park Street. The changes are coming as part of Bristol City Council plans to improve cycling safety and social distancing in Bristol.<\/p>\n

The new lanes are part of a long-term transformation plan to improve Bristol’s transport network, cut back on pollution and move people out of cars and onto buses, bikes and pedestrianised areas.<\/p>\n

The bike lanes will be in place from from Monday 03 August, with temporary bollards installed to protect the lanes from traffic. This will reduce the current two lanes of traffic along the route to one.<\/p>\n

Lewins Mead will also be reduced to one lane whilst a northbound protected bike lane from Christmas St Junction to St James Barton roundabout is installed.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Cabinet Member for Transport at Bristol City Council, Cllr Kye Dudd warned there may be a ‘period of disruption’ while the ‘crucial’ changes are implemented.<\/p>\n

He said: \u201cThese bold measures to divert traffic away from the city centre will make a huge difference to the quality of our air on a key Bristol route that passes our hospitals.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe new protected bike lanes are part of city-wide transformative measures that will create a more connected future for everyone with cleaner air, safer and better public transport, and improved walking and cycling routes.”<\/p>\n
