New changes are planned at Bristol’s parent carer forum in the wake of criticism in last year’s Ofsted and CQC Send inspection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The forum is aiming to restructure in a bid to improve co-production and collaboration between the city’s parent carers and Bristol City Council services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Last year, Ofsted and the CQC found that there were five areas of weakness which the council must tackle through its Written Statement of Action (WSoA).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The fifth area of weakness was stated as: ‘the fractured relationships with parents and carers, lack of co-production and variable engagement and collaboration.’<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Bristol City Council is tackling co-production issues in its WSoA Improvement Priority 5. This states that the outcomes it is ‘aiming’ to achieve include parents and carers having a positive experience of the SEND system in Bristol which will work through a ‘whole system’ approach to co-production and better understanding of Bristol’s communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Now, Bristol Parent Carers – currently headed by an interim chair – is looking towards improving its co-production process by restructuring its present format and structure and will include a new permanent chair and a new constitution. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The forum is planning to present the new changes at its Annual General Meeting (AGM) this month, with proposed changes going to membership votes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The AGM will take place online on Friday 27 November 2020 at 10.30am.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The forum is also looking for nominations from parent carers who would like to stand for election for the post of Treasurer of Vice-Chair.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
