The future of Bristol Old Vic was outlined in a public meeting last night, hosted by the Vic’s new artistic and executive directors.<\/p>\n
Tom Morris and Emma Stenning, hosted their first public meeting in front of an auditorium full of Bristol artists and members of the public.<\/p>\n
Though most of the first season of work was kept under wraps, the directors talked about how the Bristol Old Vic is aiming to give opportunities to the Bristol artistic community through collaboration.<\/p>\n
As well as the artistic direction going on behind the curtains, work is planned to modernise the backstage area and improve the Front of House, to create a more welcoming experience for cast and audience.<\/p>\n
The theatre received a further boost to its future with a cash investment of \u00a3250,000 from the Garfield Weston Foundation.<\/p>\n
Next month, the theatre will be throwing open their doors for the UK’s first Festival of Improvised Performance.<\/p>\n
Featuring spur of the moment classical drama, comedy, storytelling, beatbox and film, the event will take place from 16-24 October 2009.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
