Pavement cyclists are being targeted by police in Weston-Super-Mare after complaints from members of the public.<\/p>\n
Residents in the town have been concerned about the potential danger that cyclists on pavements are posing to pedestrians.<\/p>\n
Police patrolling the High Street and surrounding pedestrianised areas have been approaching cyclists to highlight the danger of their actions.<\/p>\n
PCSO Nicola Barton said: “Cyclists are not allowed to ride in the High Street, as they can be a danger to other members of the public – many of which have expressed concerns on this matter.<\/p>\n
“Our focus is on education before enforcement, so we are first giving warnings to anyone we see cycling where they shouldn’t be – but those that continue to cycle recklessly and without any regard for the safety of others are liable to receive a fixed penalty notice or may even find themselves appearing at court.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
