Parents are not doing enough to make their children visible during dark winter nights according to UK motorists.<\/p>\n
With the clocks due to go back next month, dim mornings and dark evenings are worrying 86 per cent of drivers, who are concerned about being able to see child pedestrians.<\/p>\n
Three quarters of drivers felt that some form of fluorescent, reflective clothing should be compulsory for children walking to and from school.<\/p>\n
Parents were ultimately responsible, with 9 out of 10 motorists saying they should be doing more to keep their kids visible and safe.<\/p>\n
The survey was conducted by GEM Motoring Assist who blame the Government for keeping to British Summer Time all year long, making autumn and winter afternoons murky.<\/p>\n
Chief Executive of GEM, David Williams, explained: “Bright orange tabards or over vests are very inexpensive items these days and make a real visibility difference. Parents and school staff should check they are worn over jumpers, blazers and coats when children and young adults set off on their way home after school or college.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
