Residents in Easton, Bristol, will notice action being taken to rid Stapleton Road of mess and antisocial behaviour.<\/p>\n
Organised by the Safer Bristol Partnership, Police will be conducting high visibility patrols along the road and Avon Fire and Rescue will be visiting local people to discuss fire prevention and safety.<\/p>\n
Bristol City Council’s Clean and Green department has been removing graffiti, fly-posters and rubbish from the area.<\/p>\n
Officers from Bristol’s Robbery Team have also been carrying out operations and have issued cautions and made arrests.<\/p>\n
DI Reilly said: \u201cThe Stapleton Road area of Bristol has historically had higher levels of robbery than other parts of the City and as a result pro-active operations, similar to those run over the past two nights, are regularly held in this area to tackle both robbery and other crime types.<\/p>\n
\u201cRobbery has fallen by more than 30% in Stapleton Road over the last two years and in addition this year, across the city, robbery offenses have reduced by 20%.<\/p>\n
\u201cTo increase your personal safety when out and about please be aware of your surroundings, be discreet with your valuables and wary of casual requests from strangers, for example someone asking for cigarettes or the time.\u201d<\/p>\n
Cabinet Member for the Environment and Community Safety, Councillor Gary Hopkins said “Bristol City Council, the police and other Safer Bristol Partnership members have been listening to and working with local residents and traders to improve the safety and the quality of the environment in the Stapleton Road area.<\/p>\n
