According to research by children’s cancer charity CLIC Sargent, actually having a baby is good for your social life.<\/p>\n
Researchers for the charity found that mums will increase their friend count by eight, giving them a vital resource to call on in child related emergencies.<\/p>\n
Though findings showed that half of mums lost contact with one set of friends, since giving birth they gained an even larger bunch of friends through antenatal classes and baby and toddler related activities.<\/p>\n
The research marks the launch of Yummy Mummy week, a fund raising campaign encouraging mothers of all ages to get together and host events to raise funds for families affected by childhood cancer.<\/p>\n
CLIC Sargent\u2019s National Events Manager for Yummy Mummy, which polled 4,000 mums, Katie Barlow said:\u00a0 \u201cHaving a baby is life changing and can be quite daunting for new mums who may think they will lose touch with their pals.\u00a0 But in fact it appears from our survey that they gain a larger group of friends who they see much more often.<\/p>\n
