The number of new swine flu cases have dropped to their lowest levels since the outbreak of the disease.<\/p>\n
The public are still being urged to have the Swine Flu vaccination as death and serious illness is remaining a concern for those in at-risk groups.<\/p>\n
So far, 3.7 million vaccines have been administered to the priority groups, including 132,000 to pregnant women and 214,000 to children aged between 6 months and 5 years.<\/p>\n
Over Christmas and New Year, the number of new cases dropped to an all time low, though 211 people are in hospitals in England with 62 of those in critical care.<\/p>\n
Chief Medical Officer for England, Sir Liam Donaldson ‘strongly advises’ people eligible for the vaccine to get it done to protect themselves.<\/p>\n
He said: “Although throughout it has not been a severe illness for most people, children and younger adults have developed serious complications, been admitted to hospital and some have died.<\/p>\n
“When the virus returns in the 2010 ‘flu season those who develop complications or die will be doing so from a vaccine preventable disease.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
