Critically endangered animals housed at Bristol Zoo Gardens have been complied into a new at-risk list.<\/p>\n
In support of the International Year of Biodiversity, the zoo has put together the top ten endangered species at the zoo which it is trying to protect in the wild.<\/p>\n
Included on the list is the western lowland gorilla, Negros bleeding heart dove and the lemur leaf frog.<\/p>\n
It is estimated that there are now less than 250 of the bleeding heart doves left in the wild.<\/p>\n
The Bristol Conservation and Science Foundation, based at Bristol Zoo, has a team focusing on conservation field projects.<\/p>\n
Head of Conservation Programmes, Neil Maddison said: \u201cBy revealing the Zoo\u2019s top 10 \u2018at risk\u2019 species we hope to introduce people to some of the rare and amazing animals they may not know about, but which they can come and see on their doorstep at Bristol Zoo.<\/p>\n
