Whilst new mums agonise over getting the right baby equipment, feeding and routines into place, 51 per cent of new parents with babies and small children don’t think about their child’s health until they show signs of illness.<\/p>\n
The point of knowledge where most parents go for help when tots do fall ill is also changing, with 87 per cent of mums now accessing online resources for health and well being information.<\/p>\n
Where once the trusted health visitors and GP were the main source of advice regarding child health and development, a staggering 83 per cent of mothers will double check the advice given to them with internet websites.<\/p>\n
The findings comes from Boots WebMD and Mumsnet, who are concerned that though the internet can be useful, it’s essential that parents use a credible site compiled by healthcare professionals and paediatric experts.<\/p>\n
To help parents access accurate advice and information, Boots have launched a new Children’s and Parenting Health Centre on their Boots WebMD website.<\/p>\n
Boots Parenting Club expert, Dr Lowri Kew said: \u201cWe encourage mums to be well informed when it comes to their child\u2019s health.
