The stuffy termly parents’ evening doesn’t suit most parents and teachers, both of whom would rather communicate more often and in less formal situations.<\/p>\n
A YouGov study commissioned by Tesco for Schools and Clubs, found that parents are mainly catching up with their child’s teacher through parents’ evenings, notes to school and letters.<\/p>\n
Teachers themselves revealed they would rather have more contact through email and many parents would like to be able to use networking websites like Facebook.<\/p>\n
Ex-head teacher and author, Sue Palmer says: “Both parents and teachers may find it difficult to communicate in formal situations like parents evenings.\u00a0 We need more opportunities to develop informal contacts so parents and teachers can collaborate more, because they both have the children’s best interests at heart.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
