A standard day fare for just an adult costs \u00a34 and the service has a reputation for being poor value for money amongst the city&#8217;s\u00a0residents.<\/p>\n<p>There are advantages and disadvantages to travelling Bristol by bus once you have more than one child. Here are some of the pros and cons, and parenting products to help make travel a little easier.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Double Buggy<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/chopsybaby.com\/magazine\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/09\/britax.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-9424\" title=\"britax\" src=\"http:\/\/chopsybaby.com\/magazine\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/09\/britax.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"353\" srcset=\"https:\/\/chopsybaby.com\/magazine\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/09\/britax.jpg 300w, https:\/\/chopsybaby.com\/magazine\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/09\/britax-254x300.jpg 254w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><em>Pictured: The Britax B-Dual in-line double buggy, two children, four wheels, great for buses<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Advantages<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>Both children are contained<\/p>\n<p>A tandem buggy will fit on Bristol buses but will take up all the space. A tandem with the second seat underneath the top one &#8211; in line &#8211; will give you a sporting chance of actually getting on the bus as this design tends to be about the same size as a large buggy.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Disadvantages<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>You may have to fold up the buggy which may not be possible without removing seats and juggling two children.<\/p>\n<p>Chopsy Baby tried and tested\u00a0double buggy for buses: <strong>Phil and Teds Sport- <\/strong>It&#8217;s very lightweight, same size as a single pram. Easy to push, carries two children in up to four weight combinations. Check tyre pressure regularly and carry a bike pump. You can swap buses or walk but you can&#8217;t ditch a car.<\/p>\n<p>Can be used as a learning experience and fun for young children<\/p>\n<p>Can on occasion be faster than the car.<\/p>\n<p>No worries about petrol, tax, MOT, insurance, finding parking, paying for parking.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Disadvantage to public transport<br \/>\n<\/strong><br \/>\nOther passengers can be rude, unhelpful and obstructive.<\/p>\n<p>Train commuters push onto the train before you have managed to get off<\/p>\n<p>Once you are behind a pram, people will push in front of you because you are invisible<\/p>\n<p>If your pram\/buggy does not fold up, you will have an awkward situation if a wheelchair user wishes to get on.<\/p>\n<p>If your pram\/buggy does fold up, there is unlikely to be anywhere you can put it anyway<\/p>\n<p>Tired and hungry children will scream and cry and everyone will want to harm you<\/p>\n<p>Expensive<\/p>\n<p>Can be exhausting getting around on a bus with pram and child\/ren.<\/p>\n<p>The bloody things never turn up on time if at all.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Anyone who thinks public transport is a cheaper and easier alternative to taking the car has never lived in Bristol.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":16,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"colormag_page_container_layout":"default_layout","colormag_page_sidebar_layout":"default_layout","footnotes":""},"categories":[6],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-9422","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-bristol-news"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.5 -
