How to deal with ghosts

There is a ghost in my house, how can I get help? Psychic Medium Janet O’ Carroll advises

Psychic medium Janet O’Carroll, is a Spiritual Development Teacher Reiki Master/Teacher and Crystal Therapist. She can connect to the spirit realms bringing messages and communicating with those who have passed over.

How does a parent know when it’s time to get help? So many ‘odd’ things can be put down to imagination or plausible explanations, but if there is a spirit in the house making itself known, at what point should a family get someone in?

When the spirit becomes a nuisance.

Who should the family get in for help and what qualifications/gifts should they look for from the helper?

When looking for a competent experienced person to assist with your problem, you should choose someone that works directly with spirit (a medium), also ask them what experience they have in this particular field, ask for examples and also if needed a reference of someone they have helped before with a similar problem to your own. Word of mouth is a good way of finding a suitable helper, if not knowing where to go first, try your local spiritualist church/centre and always look at a few recommendations, then go with your gut instinct.

I’m sure psychics won’t tell people anything to alarm them, but can a spirit ever be dangerous?

Personally, I have never come across a dangerous one, but some may become challenging or frustrated.

If a young child becomes concerned about a ‘monster’ in the bedroom, could it be more than imagination? What would the warning signs be that a child can see spirits and how should a parents react?

Yes it could be more than their imagination, but what they are seeing is spirit, but some children are too young to realise. If a child constantly insists that they have for example “a little friend” or “Grandad was here”, when he has passed away, parents should show no fear or sudden negative reaction, but just agree or explain they have just come to see you, as if you show fear or negativity toward the situation, this in turn will rub off on your child.

If the child claims to see or hear things, or say that people talk to them that the parent can’t see, what should the parent do. Especially if it is upsetting the child? As stated above, but if it starts to upset your child, explain to your child that they can tell their friends  to go away when they don’t want them there (dependant on the child’s age), the parent can also do this.

Can a parent go through their entire life and all of a sudden in later adult life start hearing or seeing spirits? What could make this happen?

Yes, anyone can and there is no particular reason for this to happen.

Can pregnant or postnatal women suddenly find themselves experiencing spirits for some reason?

Yes, but only as stated above.

For sceptics, suddenly experiencing contact with an intelligent spirit can force them to re-evaluate their belief system, is there any books  or further reading you would recommend to support them through this?

Firstly all spirit has intelligent, after all they are just people without the physical body and a book that explains all from fearing the unknown to gaining knowledge through education on this subject is “It’s a Kind of Magic” by Janet O’Carroll
