Review: Coleman’s Season and Shake

A new and simple method of cooking family meals has been devised by Coleman’s.

They have recently launched the new Season and Shake, a packet product that includes seasoning and a baking bag.

The thinking behind the product is that the new baking bag allows the food to cook in its own juices, seal in the flavour and cut down on the washing up.

According to whether you are using one of three flavours – Rustic, Mediterranean and Paprika – a simple list of fresh vegetables and chopped chicken is placed into the baking bag with the included Coleman’s seasoning.

The bag is given a shake and cooked in an oven proof dish for around 45 minutes.

Bristol mother of four, Hester Bradley tested out the Mediterranean Coleman’s Season and Shake with her husband Richard and children aged between 18 months and seven years.

Hester says: “I do tend to use packets of seasoning within cooking to liven up meals such as wedges or mince. But it’s the first time I have tried it with chicken. It’s quite a good idea, very simple to make, with fresh natural ingredients. Very fool-proof.

“The seasoning had a little spice to it, but nothing that put off any of my particularly fussy children. You will need an additional serving of carbohydrate to go with it such as a tasty bread or even rice.

“I was surprised it was quite so simple, even dealing with the baking bag. To be honest, it didn’t cut down on the washing up as when you cut open the bag, it leaks out as you serve it.

“I would be keen to try out the other flavours as it was a reasonably good success.”
