Review: The Benjoy Munchcup

A new range of children’s snacks has just launched, featuring innovative packaging to stop spills and mess.

Children’s food company Benjoy Nutrition, has launched the Munchcup, a tub of tasty snacks with a plastic film saving the contents from spillage.

The company’s founder Michelle Daniells, wanted to create a convenient snack food for preschoolers and children from 12 months. As well as protecting the snack when dropped on the floor, she aimed to create better nutritional content to crisps and sweets.

Michelle says: “I knew there was a real need for healthier snack foods that were age appropriate in terms of nutritional content.  But it wasn’t enough to develop just another range of snack food; my experience as a mum led me to design our innovative ‘less mess’ packaging that gives parents a convenience they’ll appreciate.”

The snacks come in single portions using natural ingredients and include: strawberry slices, grape slices, tomato and carrot, root vegetables and tomato and roasted red pepper.

For Chopsy Baby, Michelle O’Reilly, tested out the Benjoy Munchcups with two year old niece Samantha.

Michelle says: “When I look after my niece, I struggle to take her attention away from the rows of sweets and chocolates that she isn’t allowed. I usually go prepared with a bag or tub of sliced fruit but as her coordination isn’t perfect it ends up on the floor nine times out of ten.

“I find the Munchcup an interesting concept. The snacks themselves are quite tasty. The Crunchy Strawberry Slices, Crunchy Grape Slices, Tomato and Roasted Red Pepper are the best. And, I did find myself trying to get at the Root Vegetable Mini Crisps which were delicious.

“When Sam inevitably dropped one of the tubs on the floor, only one piece was lost instead of the whole tub. But I did have to laugh when she got fed up with the plastic shield stopping the snack falling out. To get the crisps out easier she just tore off the plastic. I can see the potential of the Munchcup though.”
