Parents freqently co-sleep with their children

UK parents frequently co-sleep with their children, with more than one in three parents allowing their child to share their bed at night if asked.

According to the new study by MyVoucherCodes.co.uk, 27 per cent of parents allowed this to happen until their child was four years old.

Nightmares, upset and illness were the main causes of co-sleeping with older toddlers, but 3 per cent of parents admitted doing it because they themselves felt lonely.

More than 1,000 parents with children younger than five were questioned for the study.

A 68 per cent of them with plenty of cash for the electricity bill allowed their child to leave their light on in their bedroom whilst they sleep.

A further 19 per cent admitted to letting them have television in their bedroom to help them get to sleep.
