Cash savvy mothers are making their own washable nappies and wet wipes, according to a study conducted byKidStart. Researching ways mothers were cutting back on spending in the run up to Christmas 2010, one mother revealed she made her own nappies saying: “Rather than buying tonnes of cotton wool or packets of baby wipes for wiping my baby’s bottom, I bought a white fleece baby blanket in the charity shop and cut it up into small squares. The idea is the same as lots of the eco-friendly fleece and terry wipes on offer. I wash them with my reusable nappies – which are a hand-me-down. Also saving me money.”
