Stress will not affect fertility treatment from working
Women undergoing IVF or other procedures to help them conceive will be reassured that emotional distress created by their infertility, or other stresses in their life will not stop treatment from working.
Researchers in Cardiff, led by Professor Jacky Boilvin from the Cardiff Fertility Studies Research Group, looked at the relationship between successful fertility treatment and stress in a large scale review.
Findings showed that emotional stress had no bearing on the chances of a woman becoming pregnant.
Professor Boivin says: “these findings should reassure women that emotional distress caused by fertility problems or other life events co-occurring with treatment will not compromise their chance of becoming pregnant”.
